Friends of the College Success Program (FCSP)

FCSP is an independent Washington State registered non-profit corporation founded in 2009. Its mission is to support the students enrolled in the College Success Program at Seattle Central Community College . FCSP organizes fundraising projects and events, assists with volunteer recruitment, advocates for support of the program, and promotes public awareness of the many challenges facing former foster youth.

The College Success Program seeks to diminish barriers to higher education that confront former foster youth. Many of these young people enter adulthood facing serious challenges in housing, health care, and education due to the abrupt end of much needed social, emotional, and financial support. These hardships, coupled with the usual effort required to pursue a college education, force many foster alumni to abandon their educational and career goals. They frequently endure homelessness, chronic underemployment, unemployment, and often end up living on the margins with little access to community resources. The College Success Program offers former foster youth financial assistance and an array of support services enabling them to achieve academic success.
